Lunch at Warung M. Nasir

collage“Let’s do Warung for lunch. I think Joone! recommended the Beef Rendang; so it should be good.” said someone. And it’s off to Warung M. Nasir on Killiney Road for lunch.

Warung M. Nasir is a small shop just next to that famous Coffeeshop. They do not, I was told, take reservations, so do go early as it is always packed. Rightfully so, this blog thinks as he maneuvered his trim and fit self in the store just as everyone else was settling down for lunch.

This blog loves having lunch with foodie friends as there’s a certain pleasant comfort-feeling about it. The conversation is animated and very focused on food and food-related stories and comfortable silences as we all mindfully chewed and tasted the food of Warung M. Nasir.

A lot has been blogged by fine bloggers such as Hinata (who took a good photo of me on her blog, I might add) and The Baker, so I will not belabour it save to say that I enjoyed these the most:

There have been much talk and inquiry as to whether that black spongy thingy (called “Paru”) is beef tongue or lung. It’s actually lung (goes very well with the Sambal Belacan Sauce), but that did not stop the “tongue” jokes at the table. Yes, this blog agrees that women should learn to love the tongue.

And yes, while I felt it lacked that “beefy” taste, the Beef Rendang was tender and juicy and worth a try.
