A Round-up of 2006

2006 was not a good year. It was a momentuous year with events echoing down history like a curse echoing in a cathedral, but before we start 2007 properly – to get it over and done with – here’s a round up.

This is not a top-ten list or a competition. This blog is about sharing experiences and not a wannabe food-critic blog that awards highly dubious numbers based on meaningless metrics. Nor is this a venal blog that attempts to extort free meals from hard-working hawkers in exchange for a mention or a photo to be posted as a blog entry. This blog has no idea how to do such things.

And yes, it’s in no particular order of merit.

Pleasant Discoveries:

1. There are really nice food bloggers in Singapore

2. Aston Specialities

3. Asia Grand Restaurant

4. Taste Paradise

Utter Disappointments:

1. L’Aigle d’Or

2. Ï‹berburger

3. Xiyan

Most Memorable Meals:

1. Tequila Night at Cafe Iguana

2. Kooking at the K’s

3. Foie Gras Dinner

4. My first visit to a real Sushi place

5. The Chaine de Rotisseurs Non-Professional Dinner

6. Porterhouse steak that is, to quote a friend, “as big as my head”.

7. My first raw Crab at Guan Hin

8. Fatty Weng’s with dear friends

9. My first Barbeque in nine years

10. Azhang’s with a dear friend.

If music is the food of love, then food is the soundtrack of your life.
